Shev studied at the South African College of Applied Psychology and is a Registered Counsellor with the Health Professions Council of South Africa, holding a Bachelor of Social Science Honours in Psychology (BPsych Equivalent Programme). She has specialised training in Emotion Aid and certification as a Psych-K facilitator. She passionately advocates for sign language (being South Africa's 12th official language) emphasising its vital yet underutilised role in the community counselling space in South Africa.
Her professional interests focus on trauma-affected individuals, those struggling with addictions, and minority groups including the hearing impaired, disabled, and LGBTQI+ communities. Her community counselling experience is discernible through her dedicated volunteering at the Counselling Hub, where she provided in-person and online counselling, contributed to advocacy and policy formation, developed psychosocial training materials, conducted psycheducational training, and ran upskilling workshops. In management, Shev successfully runs Posticino's, one of Sea Point's most beloved restaurant brands renowned for its delicious pizza, overseeing waiters and kitchen staff with outstanding leadership.
At Kuthetha Nathi / Talk to Us, she has served as a counsellor at our Sea Point hub in both in-person and online capacities; has played a key role in establishing our training programme, and will now present our Discovering Me and Supporting You training programmes.
